The scientific committee discerned Beirut Antioxidants Awards 2017

isanh middle east awardsDuring the cloture ceremony of Beirut Antioxidans World Congress, the scientific committee discerned four awards:

The Scientific Contribution Award was discerned to Dr. Fahad Al-Zadjali from Sultan Qaboos University, Oman.
Dr Al-Zadjali gave a presentation about Middles Eastern sleep pattern and oxidative stress. To know more about this presentation, please click here.

The award for the best Oral Presentation Contribution was discerned to Dr. Youakim Saliba from Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanon. The objective of the presentation related to the effect of phenolic compounds on the cardiac fibroblast phenotype: in vitro experimental study in rats was to evaluate the effects of these compounds on fibroblast calcium signaling.

Dr. Mona Tannoury from the Lebanese University, Lebanon was awarded with the Poster Presentation Contribution Award for her presentation about antioxidant and antiproliferative effets of sargassum vulgarae . The aim of this study is to demonstrate to role of Sargassum vulgare can be used to treat Colon Cancer and diseases caused by oxidative stress.

Dr. Hiba Rajha from Saint Joseph University of Beirut, Lebanon received the Innovation Prize 2017 for her presentation about pomegranate peels valorization: polyphenols extraction through emerging technologies. Her study compared different technologies, such as ultrasounds (US), infrared (IR), pulsed electric fields (PEF) and high voltage electrical discharges (HVED) and showed their efficiency for polyphenol (PP) recovery.
