Reactive oxygen species mediate the anticancer activity of thymoquinone

Gali Muhtasib Hala Oman 2019 SpeakerProfessor Hala Gali-Muhtasib, from the American University of Beirut, Lebanon, will join the Oman Middle East Congress 2019 which will be held on March 4-6, 2019 in Muscat, Oman to introduce us to her study entitled "Reactive oxygen species mediate the anticancer activity of thymoquinone".

Short summary of the presentation: The black seed compound Thymoquinone (TQ) is a promising anticancer molecule that induces apoptotic cell death in several tumor systems without exhibiting toxicity to normal cells. In this talk, I will provide extensive evidence from our lab and from other labs indicating that increased oxidative stress is an underlying mechanism for TQ’s anticancer activity in solid tumors or leukemias when used alone or in combination with clinical drugs .
